Re: Character clothing (aka Mousewear)
There won't be a typical level-up system where you put XP points in categories. This will most likely work by learning specific skills from books, NPCs, some situations, etc... There is a limited set of skills (ie: no huge skill tree) which can be acquired during the game. They will all have a dire...

But in the game it will be possible to gain proficiency in wearing an armor so that the drawbacks are somewhat mitigated. Oh now that is new. Well, going by already seen footage it looks like there will at least be some full-plate armor of sorts. Taking the postcard with all the signatures of the developers on it That's just a terrific suggestion - we should definitely do this! Though GoaT is pretty much a one-man game so Seith's signature would be plenty imho ;) thats the tricky part. getting full staff signatures on anything is logistical...

holy crow thats some crazy collector's edition choices! Dang.. I love how thorough and detailed you got on these.

SO was the demo stations constantly being used? ever get a line?

I wouldn't be surprised if this moves to other consoles over time, it just makes good sense as a game developer and a business standpoint. Very VERY VEERRRY awesome. Love the nuance in animation and movement. It got me thinking about the poeple who might not be as emotionally invested in the game as I am, who might not share a pre-release history, who judge this game "merely" by its content, not by its efforts. Bah no one would possibly do THAT! Actually that is an excellent point. Most folk t...

Hey Jeremiah, since you are a music guru, I am curious what you thought of the music in the game. :) Or the interesting use of the singing/humming? The overall sound design is really solid. there are a few quirks, samples that bark out and feel too much like a "sample of an effect" and not...

I try not to subscribe to the more modern American consumerist notion of disposable electronics. In the normal course of things, I'd agree wholeheartedly with you... but with me moving about so much these days, I need equipment that's either mobile or cheap enough to be disposable. OK now I need to check out and research some of these Jeremiah listed. :) I have Dear Esther on steam, haven't tried it yet. May make that the first to peruse. With the recent loss of JewWario on youtube, I got to thinking on if the game might have a graveyard or burial site that could be used as an explorable area, but also a place to have custom stones with simple (or complex) etched gravemarkers in them. Re: A Spyglass or Telescope (and other tools)
@EvilKing.... I also wonder about the GoaT approach to magic. It seems like there might be some, if there is to be a ghost in the story... and of course there seems to be legions of undead rats... but are ghosts/undead rats spiritual or magical? Ha ! I am surprised it has taken this long to actuall...

Re: The greatest games of all time & what are you playing no
@EvilKing... that is weirdly cool and exotic ;) if you like vintage rpg's, I think (not sure) Seith is a fan of 'Legend of Grimrock', which was more of a hit in Europe than the US. You might find the 'Legend of Grimrock' website strangely, unusually familiar... that's b'coz Seith asked me to build ...

Re: Character Movement - Your preferences
Yes, it would be great to have ninja enemies, especially frogs! I've always loved frogs... anyway, did you ever finish that book? Sadly no Life got a little crazy and so I had to set it aside for a while. I do need to go back to it, but I also need to brush up and maybe do some short stories before...

Re: Character Movement - Your preferences
You know.. in the book I was writing, in an alternate world paralell to earth where the lizards/amphibean creatures took dominent roles are the rulers, I had the frogs as more of assassins. Most times when I see frog like characters in games they end up being more akin to what you (David) have descr...

Re: The greatest games of all time & what are you playing no
I haven't played much lately, but currently I am stepping back to old rpg gaming on my pc. I grabbed a cheap copy of Septerra Core on Steam and so have been playing that for about a week now. I actually already own it from many years back on cd, still in it's case, but I wanted to get a already patc...

Re: NPC's Ahoy!
Who would want to live there.. indeed. :) That alone makes for some interesting opportunities for npc's with some spice. Is it lots of salty old warf rats who used to sail but gave it up after being shipwrecked and getting hurt? Of an adventurous (and stubborn) farm family tat chose to settle down t...

Re: A Spyglass or Telescope (and other tools)
All great (and dare I say "poetic") ideas! :) Just a reminder though; in the world of "Ghost of a Tale" the characters are animals but their scale to the world is not akin to ours. By that I mean for example that the main character's height, being a mouse, is roughly equivalent ...

Re: NPC's Ahoy!
If they think you are ok, they might carefully leave guidance or a cooked meal in your path. I totally love this concept. The idea some of the inhabitants will be just watching and hiding is kind of creepy, but kind of neat. Seeing them slowly feel trust or hope in the hero, and even try to help hi...

A Spyglass or Telescope (and other tools)
I'd love to see some kind of telescope or binocular item in the game to give a sense of scope to the areas. If the game is going to require puzzles, elements of stealth, and avoiding some combat, it'd be kool to find a way to see far away with some handy item. Something akin to entering a large new ...

NPC's Ahoy!
With the last blog post by Seith we got to see more of the programs and process he has been working with. In the comments (Thanks David for fixing them!) I asked about how many enemies the game might have and Seith confirmed there would be less than 10 (or so) but he also said that number was NOT in...

Re: Ghost of A Tale Blog Posts
On the topic of program pipelines from the post, I am curious as to what people think of Blender? I only know it from a number of years ago, and at that time it was still pretty rough as a tool. It was very capable and had tons of features, but both the initial setup/install and the learning curve/...

Ghost of A Tale Blog Posts
Just wanted to make a simple thread for folk to comment and discuss anything posted in the blog. I know the last post seems to have the comments section broken (at least for me it won't work). So if you wanted to comment or ask question, please go for it. I was psyched to see the screenshot Seith Po...

Re: World scale and size morphing
I think the idea is kool but I have to agree with David, to pull that off and have it work in a satisfying way would likely require a whole team of dev's in order to have the proper mesh/polygon adjustment and on the fly texture/bump/shadow/real mapping converted from micro to macro realistically. I...

A GoaT goat? That's a terrific in-reference! If Seith can pull it off, in terms of size (b'cos all the animals we've seen so far seem to be to real-life scale... relative to each other) and a goat would be a colossus compared to a mouse. Even so, if it is doable, it would be fun as heck. ;) T...

@David- Burnout on the laptop eh? I am guessing Burnout: Paradise? I actually don't own that, but I did see a good bit of it on my friend's rig. I Like the fact it really made a big open explorable world to play in, though the fact they were straying away from the style and fun of the prior games bu...

Wow, I'm kind of sad. Re: Music is somehow at the core of the game
I like the idea that back in the day (and by the day i mean long long ago) Minstrels were there to travel and pass along local folklore, bring news and music and art to different areas. They sort of brought a certain amount of color and inspiration to the lands through song and story and dance. I do...

Hoo that's a hard one. My moods change so often that I don't stick with a game for too long and swap back and forth. Likely why I don't always finish games. The handful of games I always find myself going back to would be Burnout:Revenge SSX Tricky Fallout 3 Persona 3 or 4 Strange assortment I guess...

@EvilKing... Seith did 2D animation for The Road to El Dorado and The Prince of Egypt (both for Dreamworks) way back before he moved to doing 3D. So its a good bet that he could, theoretically, draw and paint a collector's edition poster as you suggest ;) Ha awesome. I had no idea so that is great ...
