[8.37] Game Pass (PC) - constant flickering between choices in the main menu screen at launch

I just got Ghost Of A Tale on Xbox Pass on PC and when I launch it, after the loading screens the game leaves the fullscreen (2550 x 1440) mode and then on the main menu the highlighted option keeps on changing very fast on its own and I can not launch a new game.
I tried unplugging my controller but to no avail.
I tried to uninstall/reinstall, I even tried to "reset" the app in the Windows settings, but it did not change anyting.
