Inspect clothing behind UI bug.

Hi,

So I had finished the available portions of the game before the latest patch was released, and figured I'd start it back to up check out the changes the patch made. (this was a few weeks ago)
At the time I noticed when inspecting an item of clothing it's info panel was behind parts of the inventory UI. I assumed this was a new bug.

Today I did a bit more tinkering, and noticed even though the resolution was set at my native res (2560x1600) it was only running the game at 1920x1080.
So i changed res to 2560x1600 windowed and then back to 2560x1600 full screen. All of a sudden the inspect clothing panel was in the right spot.

Changing back to 1920x1080 caused it to go back behind some of the UI.
Changing to some other resolutions may put the panel in the right spot or wrong spot. It's hit and miss.
If i go to say 1600x900 and then back to native 2560x1600 its still broken.

I read on the steam forums that you guys hadn't been able to reproduce, that post was back in September so I'm not sure if you've had any luck since.

So if you need help reproducing this let me know. As I seem to be able to repeatedly.
Or you may already have a fix in the works *shrugs* there doesn't seem to be much info about this bug anywhere. (or i just suck at searching)

Thank you for your feedback !
We still are struggling to reproduce that bug, but as far as we know,
it involves fullscreen and play the game in a resolution lower than native resolution,
but more important, on another ratio.

We will dig further in that direction, thanks to you !

Hi cosmogonies,

It seems that ratio, fullscreen/window and native or not doesn't really have any impact.

I just now switched from native res full screen to native res window and the bug happened. switched back to full screen and it went away.
Then changed to a lower res at the same ratio and the bug happened.

Here is a short video clip i made last night while testing a few different resolutions out. so you can see the effect. I'll also attach the log file from that session.

As you can see the bug shows at my native res (2560x1600 full screen) and then later on the bug isn't there at the same resolution after change back and forth a few times.

Hopefully this info will help further your investigations :)

*edit* Just loaded up a new game and was able to reproduce the bug, so it's not related to a save.

We are really near to narrow this bug down, thanks to you.
So this is very linked to the swap resolution at runtime (without restarting the game.)

But is seems also linked to the ratio, as I notice here your native resolution is 2560x1600 (16/10) and you switch back and forth into 1920x1080 (16/9).
Can you do the very same tests, but with 1920x1200 (which is a ratio of 16/10) to see if that impacts the inspect GUI glitch please ?

I have done some more testing as requested.

1st test
start game at 2560x1600 - no bug
change to 1920x1200 - bug
change to 2560x1600 - no bug
change to 1920x1080 - no bug
change to 2560x1600 - bug
change to 1920x1080 - no bug
change to 2560x1600 - no bug
change to 1920x1080 - bug


2nd test - as requested
start game at 2560x1600 - no bug
change to 1920x1200 - bug
change to 2560x1600 - no bug
change to 1920x1200 - no bug
change to 2560x1600 - bug
change to 1920x1200 - bug
change to 2560x1600 - no bug

3rd test - entirely avoiding native resolution
start game at 1920x1080 - no bug
change to 1920x1200 - bug
change to 1920x1080 - no bug
change to 1920x1200 - no bug
change to 1920x1080 - bug
change to 1920x1200 - bug
change to 1920x1080 - no bug


4th test - repeat of 1st test
start game at 2560x1600 - no bug
change to 1920x1200 - bug
change to 2560x1600 - no bug
change to 1920x1080 - no bug
change to 2560x1600 - bug
change to 1920x1080 - bug
change to 2560x1600 - no bug
change to 1920x1080 - no bug

So it would seem that
- aspect ratio doesn't seem to matter 16/9 16/10 etc the bug still happens consistently.
- fullscreen/windowed mode doesn't affect the bug at all. results were basically identical to the above.
- when the bug is present, if you restart the game (without changing resolution) the bug goes away, without fail. The ONLY exception to this was when i first noticed and found a temp fix for the bug, and in that case the game was set to 2560x1600 but it was actually running at 1920x1080. Even after restarts the bug was still present. Until change of resolution to something else then back to native fixed it. This was all after 1.93 was released.

Hopefully these tests will help narrow it down even further!

Thank you very much indeed for taking the time to do this! That's really appreciated.

It truly IS an elusive bug. But your test gave me an idea that I'll have to try. If it does what I think it should then we might stand a chance at fixing the issue...

In any case we'll keep you posted. And thanks again for doing this! :)
