Controls locked

I just bought the game on the PS4 and before I got to play or change anything the controls for inventory and main menu are locked. I'm unable to play the game without having access to the inventory since that's where I need to go to gain health. I emailed support to see if they can fix this, i wasn't able to find a solution anywhere or any reason why these would be unavailable to me.
